Ice ice baby~

So Sunday was my brother's birthday (HELLO icie! 誕生日 おめでとう!) and also GH's birthday (Happiii bafudeiii!! ^^) and because icie was too busy to go out with me, we celebrated GH's birthday with some other friends. 'Twas a productive day of yum cha, soft toy picking from UFO machines, sticker photos (gosh, I haven't taken one of those in eons), dessert stop, 3 hrs worth of Karaoke, sushi dinner, and galaxy world visit which included DDR and Day Tona.

Concluded with a joyous walk back to the car in heavy rain.

I've long given up on keeping my entries in order of my photos in picasa, so it's going according to theme now, and it's ICE time. As in, frozen water ice. What were you thinking... =_=

This was with tt one sunny summer day. Digressing a little, it was snowing yesterday in Victoria. And it's summer... crazy weather. Australians tend to dress according to seasons, but it sure felt like winter, so you see all these people walking around in short sleeve t-shirts and shorts (complete with blue faces), cursing the wind.

... wait, where was I?

From Weeks 49-52
Meeting Point! That's right, the green thing is a kiwi crushed ice, which was really nice because instead of using dodgy flavoring, it was the real fruit, blended.

From Weeks 49-52
Interior of the place felt like a theatre, two levels with stairs on both sides heading upstairs. It was closed when we went... and only three tables filled, us filling one. Not a very popular or well-known place at the moment, I'm guessing the other Taiwanese dessert place is more popular.

This isn't "ice", but it's mango sago. Served in a cute glass, it was really nice, but for the price of $4.50, it could have been bigger. I still liked Regal's mango sago at yum cha... before they closed down. Now I just go for watermelon sago from the Friday night markets at China Town.

Still, it was nice. You cannot go wrong with mango sago.

Looking like mango caviar~

From Weeks 49-52
Also ordered a mango shaved ice, smothered with condensed milk. With all these new dessert places cropping up everywhere, there's no need to visit Ten Ren. Ever. Again.

You know how you see kids pressing their faces against the window of a bus? Yea... *smooshed*

From Weeks 49-52
Another variation! This was the "Meet Fresh", China Town. Super long queues most of the time, tt told me it's opened by the same company who opened Easy Way. This was their strawberry crushed ice with condensed milk.

From Weeks 49-52
Sweet potato and taro balls with crushed ice and pearls. And barley. I'm actually making these names up, but I believe this is Item No.2 on the menu.

From Weeks 49-52
This is their tau foo fa with pearls...

From Weeks 49-52
and Meet Fresh's version of mango shaved ice. Compare the one from Meet Fresh and Meeting Point... I actually prefer Meeting Point's... but then again, not much difference, both have shaved ice and mango puree.... no wait ACTUALLY, I like the one from TNC most =D

... except I can't find any photos of the desserts from TNC...

(EDIT: I found the shaved ice from TNC... it's actually the very first picture in this entry =_____='' my head isn't screwed on properly today obviously, but it was really good with longan and lychee, condensed milk, lychee ice cream AND layers of shaved ice. Layers as in sheets, not flakes. The best~ but it is a slight walk from China Town, near Sushi Rio and Takeru, just further down the road.)

Random:
My cat caught the blue tongue lizard that was living in our backyard today, and was playing with it. Every summer, she catches it, gets scolded for it (she KNOWS it's wrong! Dad loves the blue tongue lizard- it eats all the bugs) and then... catches it again.

She never learns... =_=

牛奶冰 are the best when it's summer! The one from TNC was nice, but the state of their kitchen sort of eeks me out.

you were the one who told me their kitchen looks alright =P

Time to make my own mango sago!!

I went to the Meeting Place ages ago for lunch and didn't really like it. Although the decor looks cool, the food was really overpriced for average tasting soup noodles. Not sure about their dessert...

We didn't try the lunch menu, but dessert is alright. Like you said, overpriced... but it's not as overpriced as Wagamama, right, right? =D
